So about a year ago I was playing JC2 and speeding across ome bridge. I think it was in Panau City, but anyways, I was in a sportscar going across a bridge.

Nothing too special, but suddenly I see a giant commercial airplane falling down into the ocean. It was on fire, and I promise I had nothing to do with it. I investigated and found absolutely nothing. I recorded a video on my PS3, and couldn't find anything.

Any ideas? Like, do planes randomly crash? Is this some sort of easter-egg?

The only thing helpful I can remember is that it was not spiraling out of control or anything. It was just on fire and crashing to the right of me.

They crash randomly like that in all open world games where aircraft can freely spawn in the sky.

This also happens in GTA. The large GTA aircraft spawn too high to hit anything, but GTA San Andreas spawns small planes at lower altitude. Just like in JC2, the planes do see what's in front of them, but only for a short distance, so they usually can't react to high vertical walls.

This isn't really a glitch. It's just the way the game is made. In the mountains, the ground raises gradually and you can see how they react at the last moment and usually manage to get away.

But it didn't crash into anything.

Instead it was just in flames and fell into the ocean.

Once I was driving on the highway in the city, and next thing I knew I got crushed by a burning Peek Airhawk 225. And another thing, once I had a Chipewwa on me in high heat, and it hit one of those big pillars and just stayed there, against the pillar, minding its own bussiness.
