The AR lens is a device in Just Cause 4.

JC4 Rico

Rico is wearing at least one.

Description[]

Izzy transfers some intel to Rico's AR lens during the mission Casquillos Vacíos Reboot (the second mission of JC4, which starts automatically and seamlessly at the end of the first mission). Sargento then immediately asks him if that's "Like... a little computer on your eyeball?" Rico responds with "Something like that."

JC4 AR lens definition

When activated, the AR lens performs an "AR scan".

AR probably stands for "augmented reality".

Further details are never mentioned in the game, but it is assumed that it's a contact lens with a built in nanocomputer that provides Rico with a HUD.

AR scan[]

The AR scan highlights points of interest and mission objectives on the screen.

Full list of what it does:

  • Highlights mission objectives.
  • Highlights nearby mission triggers.
  • Nearby vehicles and weapons have their name displayed above it.
  • Nearby destructable objects have their name displayed.
  • The blue map marker (if one is set by the player) will display its distance.
  • Circles for stunts that have not yet been completed will be visible. These stunts still have to be activated on the map, which makes them permanently visible (even with out the AR lens) until the stunt is completed, or another stunt is chosen.
  • Reveals AR tigers during the racing events of the Dare Devils of Destruction DLC.

There may be more functions. Feel free to improve the list.

Known issue (console not specified)[]

If you have your HUD setting set to HIDE ALL and use the AR Scan it will stay on indefinitely. The only way to turn it off is to have your HUD setting set to anything but HIDE ALL and use AR Scan again.
