Aeropuerto General Benítez is a location in Just Cause 4.

Description[]

Description from the map icon: "The country's only international airport. Travel into and out of Solís is heavily restricted, and tickets are rare and expensive."

The airport spawns EM-979 Airliners, EM-909 Private Jets and rarely SkyCastle Cargo Jets and Fellhawk Jet Fighters. It has a large terminal with multiple gates and multiple hangars dotted around the airport. Both Black Hand and civilian aircraft will spawn in the airport.

The western part of the airport holds a hangar and an ATC tower that is used to ground air traffic in Aeropuerto Scramble.

The northwest part of the airport has a large terminal, with a modern art sculpture in front of it. Further west is a small parking lot, seemingly unfitting for an international airport.

During the mission that takes place here, Rico mentions that this was where Mira smuggled him into Solís. Mira also mentions that she used to fly out of here all the time to places like Amsterdam, Paris, Tokyo and Medici.

As the biggest and longest flat area in Solís, it's the best place to test vehicle speeds.

Location[]

It is located in the province of Islas Intichayes, south of Quya, in the south-east of Solís. The nearest settlements are: Quya, Cayito, El Faro and Santa Joya and these are all in close-proximity to Aeropueto General Benitez.

The airport is accessed by the exit for the terminal buildings and by turning right and following the road down to the main terminal, The runways are accessed by a gate just south of the terminal building.

The only way to access the airport by road is to follow the I-80 until it reaches the exit for the airport. Then turn left or right (depending on which direction you're approaching from) and head straight ahead, all the way down to the terminal building.

Vehicles[]

Airplanes[]

  • Four EM-909 Private Jets (both outside and inside the northern hangars).
  • Twelve EM-979 Airliners. Up to six are parked at the terminal building, another two in front of the large northern hangars and one in front of the south hangars. Two of them spawn taxiing next to the main runway, one at the second runway.
    • Additionally, two or more EM-979 will fly over the airport most of the time. One more EM-979 will spawn in approach of the main runway from the south and land.
  • Emsavion Airships pass above the airport at dangerously low altitudes.
  • Emsavion Cropduster (many near the north hangars, one at the south hangars).
  • Multiple Emsavion Floatplanes (north and south hangars).
  • One Fellhawk Jet Fighter (inside the most eastern of the south hangars).
  • Thunderhead Bomber Jet (inside the most eastern of the south hangars).
  • Ultralight (inside the most southern of the large north hangars).
  • A SkyCastle Cargo Jet in Black Hand livery sometimes spawns at the north hangars. This can happen even after the region is captured for the Army of Chaos.

Ground vehicles[]

Helicopters[]

There are multiple helipads to the north of the terminal building and next to the north hangars.

  • Dropzone Chopper in Black Hand livery. This remains that way even after the region is captured.
  • Emsavion Utility Heli. Strangely it can sometimes spawn destroyed if Rico fast travels to this place.
  • Firebrand Scout Chopper in Black Hand livery. This remains that way even after the region is captured.

Completion[]

  • Speed Stunt - Pass through the ring faster than 70 km/h.
  • 4 Vehicle stunts.
    • 2 Airplane stunts.
      • Pass through the ring in a EM-979 Airliner. Use the plane that spawns on the runway facing the ring. Note that the cabin of the plane must pass through the ring to count.
      • Pass through the ring in a Emsavion Cropduster. The most obvious method is to take one of the four or six Cropdusters that spawn near the explosive barrels and electronic equipment, and take a left turn. This rarely works, however, because there is a lot of clutter on the road that even if the cabin of the plane avoids, the wings might not. Instead, one might be better of reversing it out to the runway and taking off, then coming back for a pass through the ring.
    • 2 Motorcycle stunts.
      • Pass through the ring in a Furia Sportbike.
      • Pass through the ring in a Prisa Maradona Z. This one is very difficult. One method is to airlift the bike to the height of the ring (5m), attach a booster on the back of it while the bike faces the ring, and boost forwards. This has a number of issues: Bikes aren't quite as heavy as cars, so if you lift a Maradona Z with airlifters, it's very hard to balance it perfectly, meaning it'll always tilt to one side. If you activate boosters, chances are it will either go in the wrong direction and miss the ring, or spin in circles and spaz out completely. One can try setting airlifters to "Guided", whereupon they will try to go to where the player's crosshair/reticle is aiming at, but this doesn't work at all for this stunt. Alternatively, one could just drive up the slope very carefully.
  • 2 Wingsuit stunts.
    • Pass through the three rings under 4 seconds. This one is at the top of the air traffic control tower.
    • Pass through the three rings under 15 seconds. This one is much farther away from the airport but is still part of the completion for some unknown reason.

Destructible objects[]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike international airports in the previous games, the runways don't have markings indicating their orientation and are not numbered.
  • None of the (unmovable) doors of the hangars are opened wide enough to be able to park an EM-979 Airliner inside, despite that being the most common type of plane parked in front of them.
  • Rusty remains of a wrecked SkyCastle Cargo Jet can be found in the middle one of the south hangars. The workers and scaffolding there indicate that this is a reconstructed crashed plane, so it may be part of some air crash investigation.
  • In theory this is the only airport in the game capable of handling real jets, as the runway at Aeropuerto Nueva Voz would be too short to support a normal airliner in real life.
  • Sometimes the planes can glitch during takeoff. See Bugs and glitches for more information.
  • Oddly, the planes always land on the taxiway parallel to the runway and never on the runway itself. This is probably a developer oversight, but the in-universe reason is unknown. Perhaps there's something wrong with that runway, so the planes have to temporarily land on the taxiway? Or maybe the marker beacon was moved to the wrong part of the airport by mistake?
  • The control tower in the airport resembles the one at Munich International Airport.
  • During Aeropuerto Scramble, an EM-979 Airliner might spontaneously fly into one of the terminals, causing a massive explosion. It's not known if this is part of the mission or whether it's a bug/glitch. The person who added this does have a rather buggy/glitchy version of Just Cause 4.
  • This is the only location where you can find a Large Antenna Tower, which is effectively a Communications Mast.
  • As revealed in Aeropuerto Scramble, the IATA code for the airport may be AGB. However, this would not be possible since the airport in Augsburg, Germany uses AGB.
  • There's a patch of floating grass about 20 meters north of the road entrance in the south-east that connects directly to the I-80.
