JC3 Welcome Home (aircraft carrier deck)

The deck of the only known modern aircraft carrier is seen at the beginning moment of Welcome Home.

JC3 u.s

The same JC3 American aircraft carrier, as seen when made to spawn outside of the mission.

JC4 artwork (aerial battle at a tornado)

This early artwork of JC4 has a large aircraft carrier in the distance. It has not been seen in the final game.

Definition[]

The term "aircraft carrier" refers to any ship that is meant for carrying aircraft. Most commonly it refers to enormous military ships that are meant for operating large amounts of aircraft at sea, although it can technically refer to any nautical craft or flying ship that has a designated access point for aircraft.

While there is no single definition of an "aircraft carrier" in reality, the ones in Just Cause 3 are the closest to actual aircraft carriers in real life. Other vehicles in other games are simply improvised.

It's worth noting due to technical constraints, aircraft have a much shorter takeoff distance in general, so unlike the case with real aircraft carriers, non-VTOL aircraft do not require a specialized slingshot to launch. In JC3 and JC4 all planes only need about 20 meters or less to take off.

Just Cause 3:

  • The Rebellion base Grotta Contrabandero partially consists of an old aircraft carrier wreck.
  • The Scolio area has a broken wreck of an old aircraft carrier.
  • Two planes have folding wings. In reality, this feature is only present on planes designed for carrier use:
  • eDEN Airship from the Sky Fortress DLC carries a large number of aircraft. Most of these are drones.
  • During the first 3 seconds of the opening sequence of Welcome Home, the Urga U17 Akrobat is seen starting its engines on a platform that is probably the deck of an aircraft carrier. The actual model used in the mission is only an incomplete platform, but the mission makes it look like a carrier.

Just Cause 4:

  • 2 Spearhead Transport ships are loaded with 1 fighter plane and 1 attack helicopter each. Since the ship is long enough to allow the fighter to take off, it can count as a carrier.
    • The Spearhead Transport also has a helipad at the very back of the ship, though it's only seen in use during the mission Beachhead.
  • The Agency submarines in the Danger Rising DLC actually might as well purpose-wise be amphibious assault ships. They carry a number of A5 Coyote Assault Choppers.
    • The top of the submarine is also flat and long enough for practically all aircraft to take off from.
  • While much smaller than the Spearhead Transport, the Barco Roro Ferry is still big enough to be used by the player as a carrier for helicopters, or Ultralights.
  • One of the game's early artworks that depicts many vehicles that did not end up in the game, features a large aircraft carrier. The carrier is seen at great distance, but it resembles the Nimitz-class.
