The Automat U12 is a weapon in Just Cause 3.

Description

It's an automatic bullpup shotgun, resembling the Pancor Jackhammer, but instead of the revolver style magazine, it has the grip and magazine of a HK CAWS. The carry handle and stock look similar to those of the BTS12 and BP-12. The stock also loosely resembles the VRBP-100, BLP M12 and BP-12.

The magazine is near the rear end of the weapon, making it a bullpup shotgun.

The Rebel drop description is "Just when you though shotguns couldn't get any better, someone figures out how to make an automatic one that fires over, and over, and over, and..."

Its name reveals two possible things:

  • It is made by Urga, as the "U" in the name suggests.
  • It uses 12 gauge ammo, as the "12" in "U12" may represent the ammo it uses.

Performance

It's not an SMG, so it doesn't shoot very fast, but it is fully automatic, making it a very powerful close quarters weapon. It can take down most infantry units in one shot. Users are advised to resist the temptation to use the full auto capability and fire multiple shots in immediate succession, as they will waste their ammunition very quickly. In close quarters and against a clustered group of enemies, however, going full-auto will drop them very quickly.

Trivia

  • "Automat" is a word that originates from Latin. It's the word for "automatic" in many languages. Used alone that word shouldn't really mean anything specific, but in a few countries it's often implied to mean something. Examples are: automatic gun (as in assault rifle, or machine gun) in Polish and vending machine in Czech.
  • It is made by the fictional URGA company, evidenced by reading the sides of the weapon.
