The CS9 PDW-K is an SMG in Just Cause 3.

Description

This weapon appears to be based on the Heckler & Koch MP7 personal defense weapon. It lacks a grip, making it look specifically like the MP7A2 model. The "9" in "CS9" might in-universe stand for its ammunition type, which would be a 9mm cartridge.

The rebel drop description says "The Capstone CS9 fills an interesting niche in the SMG world, with its large caliber and low RPM. Packs a bit more punch than a standard SMG at the cost of speed."

Performance

As the weapon description states, this SMG deals more damage per shot than its fellow SMGs, but the rate of fire is significantly slower than the CS Wraith 225R. Overall, the CS9 does not kill enemies as quickly as the aforementioned, but it has better accuracy and lower recoil. This SMG is most suited for mid-range combat, where one can take advantage of the high stability and accuracy of the weapon to land consecutive headshots in precision aim mode. At closer ranges, the low rate of fire and small magazine size become more apparent and the weapon may struggle when facing multiple enemies at the same time.

Performance-wise, this SMG is comparable to the U-39 Plechovka, as both weapons have a similar rate of fire, damage, accuracy and magazine size.

• While it is not wielded by anyone, some Black Hand operatives appear to wield it as mech operators in Insula Fonte provinces through an exploit. Aegis soldiers can also spawn with this, although this appears to be a rare occurrence, and they do not actually shoot the weapon.

Trivia

• The "PDW" in the name refers to personal defense weapon, a class of compact, submachine-gun like select fire weapons.
• It's made by the fictional company CS.
• As the CS9 is dual-wielded, this means a single CS9 has a magazine size of only 18 bullets. This is an unusually small mag size among submachine guns in real life.
• Interestingly, a glitch pertaining to Insula Fonte and the EDEN Airship allows the Black Hand to spawn in Insula Fonte. Some of them wield this weapon, but they seem to not fire this weapon (or rarely). This is likely because their programming was not designed to function in areas outside of their spawn points, or something like that.
• The name CS9 PDW-K could be a reference to the Magpul PDR and the SRU Precision PDW-K.
