The Capstone Bloodhound is a rocket launcher in Just Cause 3.

Appearance[]

It is a manually laser-guided rocket launcher. The middle section of the tube resembles the AT4 anti-tank launcher.

The Rebel drop description says "The Capstone Bloodhound is a portable, infrared homing surface-to-air missile (SAM) launcher that can be rerouted mid-flight by the user to ensure it hits its target. Handy!"

Performance[]

This weapon projects a red laser as it fires a missile, whose trajectory can be chained by directing the laser. The missile will follow the laser t the best of its ability, but will eventually go out of range and become unresponsive or inadvertently hit other obstacles. Its damage seems to be slightly weaker than a standard explosion from the UVK-13.

The Capstone Bloodhound is best used for precision strikes on weaker targets that many special weapons fail to hit from a fair distance like certain Chaos Objects, as it has enough accuracy to get a clean hit. Otherwise, it is outclassed in destructive power by several other Special Weapons, specifically the Fire Leech.

Locations[]

After purchasing the EB games exclusive day one edition of Just Cause 3 or its standalone DLC, it becomes available at rebel drop by default.

Trivia[]

  • The Capstone Bloodhound appears to employ Semi-Active Laser Homing (SALH) where a sensor in a missile's nose seeks reflected light from a laser designator pointed at the target for guidance. Although the Bloodhound is designated as a MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defense System) in-universe, SALH is more often employed by Gravity Bombs and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, as aircraft are too fast for a laser to properly track.
