The Capstone FH155 is an anti-aircraft weapon in Just Cause 3.
See Artillery for any other similar weapons.
Description[]
It's an anti aircraft autocannon with 4 barrels and 2 bullet belts coming from the sides to feed the weapon. The weapon is on a tripod and has shield on the front. According to the text on the ammunition boxes and near the gunner' seat, it uses 40mm ammunition ("FH155 40mm").
The shape of the weapon closely resembles the Flugabwehrkanone 20 mm Zwilling version of the Rheinmetall Rh202, except that that's a 2-barreled weapon.
Performance[]
The FH155 is fully automatic, but fires very slowly. It fires one gun at a time, but those can be devastating at taking out aircraft, as well as infantry.
Typically when getting near one of these guns found in military bases (when they are not completed yet), they will often spawn with a Medici Military soldier using it and they will not hesitate to engage as long as Rico is airborne but not free-falling. If approached, the gunner dismounts and attacks, freeing up the gun for use.
Surprisingly but unrealistically, this cannon works underwater.
The weapon is always on a tripod, so it may seem stationary, but it is possible to move it using the Grappler. One can either retract the cables to move it, or tow it with a vehicle. Towing the weapon to a better angle allows the player to destroy larger Sabotage Destructable Objects with ease and no ammunition cost.
Strangely when used by Rico it can catch fire, but not explode, but when enemies use it, a select few weapons, like the machine guns on the Urga Postolka, are able to destroy it. The turret only protects the user partially from small arms fire.
Locations[]
- Nearly all Military bases in Medici and some military outposts.
- Most quarries, specifically mounted on Excavators.
- Grotta Contrabandero.
Trivia[]
- "Feldhaubitze FH155-1" (also known as FH-70) is a 155mm towed howitzer in use with several nations.
- It's made by the fictional company Capstone.
- It's the successor to the Flak Cannon from Just Cause 2.
- Sometimes the FH155's barrel models will not load unless it is manned or upon closer inspection.
- In reality, firing an anti-aircraft weapon at a parachuting enemy is considered a war crime. That also includes firing any large caliber (such as 14 mm and above) machine gun at a soldier in some countries. This is probably ignored in-game for balancing reasons regarding difficulty, as well as implying Di Ravello's regime appears unconcerned with such policies, given they are not hesitant to engage with other weapons.
