The Cavalry Armored Truck is a vehicle in Just Cause 4 and possibly Just Cause: Mobile.
Appearance[]
This vehicle is a lightly armored truck-based APC. Trucks of this type are used by several real world armies to transport troops in urban areas where there is a high risk of mines and small arms fire. In game it's also used to pursue Rico during heat.
The vehicle is not based on any specific real vehicle. It has some resemblance to multiple different armored military trucks. The closest similarities being the Ural-63095 Typhoon and SBA-60K2 Bulat.
The truck has an entirely armored body that uses slightly sloped armour on all but the rear wall. The rear wall has a door for the troop compartment, but it would be impossible to use because it's blocked by the big spare wheel. The vehicle also has 4 side doors (functional) and two large roof hatches above the front crew compartment (these are not functional). A small machine gun turret above the rear troop compartment also has its own hatch.
There's enough seats for 10 people, but in game, only the 4 front seats and the gunners position are usable for the player and NPCs. It also has a total of 8 doors and hatches for crew, but only 5 of these are functional.
There's an engine air-intake near the right mirror, which is mounted so high that it should be able to drive in 2 meters of water, but it's actually capable of about 3 meters.
The bottom of the truck shows armor plating all around the engine, coil springs for the front suspension and solid rear axles with a very rugged rear suspension that doesn't seem to actually have any type of springs.
This is possibly one of the most detailed, best planned-out and most realistic looking weaponized ground vehicle in the game. However, the performance (see below) is not realistic, as the machine gun is relatively powerful and the truck is extremely durable.
Performance[]
For a vehicle of its mass, it has a surprisingly good acceleration and almost sports car-like maximum speed. The brakes are also extremely good, being able to stop the vehicle very quickly. The only problem is understeer at higher speeds, but that's to be expected.
The acceleration allows it to reach 100 km/h in 3 seconds. After about 120 km/h the acceleration decreases and it becomes slow to reach its maximum speed.
Maximum speeds:
- Normally 181 km/h.
- Boosting repeatedly with nitros, it can momentarily get up to 237 km/h.
- Reverse: 58 km/h.
Driving into water, the front end floats for a few seconds. After that, the vehicle remains operational as long as any part of it is still above water. This means that it can be driven in about 3 meters of water, but it's not safe to do this in over 2.5 meters, unless the player is prepared to lose the truck.
This vehicle's ramming ability is good enough to instantly clear the road of any civilian car, but it slows down a lot. Ramming through fences and random obstacles is just as effortless, but often results in items becoming stuck in/through the vehicle. This ranges from lamp posts in the front suspension to large sheets of metal fence clipping through the whole vehicle. If an item like this doesn't break loose on its own, just ram the item against something.
As an armored vehicle, it can stand up to a large amount of small arms fire. The windows appear to be bullet proof as they can withstand a few bullets before shattering. Unrealistically for a vehicle of its type, it's almost as strong as a tank (requiring 3 tank shells to destroy). In reality, a direct hit from a single tank shell would very likely blow it up. This is a result of Just Cause 4's "equalization" system.
This vehicle's off-roading performance is also very impressive. It has great ground clearance and massive wheels, giving it the ability to drive over nearly anything. The truck can even drive up 70-80 degree hills with minimal effort. Driving on uneven terrain reveals that it has all powered wheels, but no differential locks, which can result in the vehicle stopping and spinning some wheels while other wheels are standing still.
It has a machine gun (1600 rounds) in a small turret. The turret requires a separate crewperson, but the player can switch directly from the drivers seat to the gunner seat with out exiting the vehicle. This is done by holding down the enter/exit button, which brings up a seat selector HUD. The weapon is used in first person view.
The truck also has 4 sets of grenade launchers (for 18 grenades) that do not function. In-universe, they are most likely loaded with smoke grenades, to cover the advance of friendly troops.
Versions and locations[]
All of them are equipped with a machine gun (1600 rounds) and nitrous.

Trivia[]
- The truck has no gearbox. Realistically a gearbox is about 2/3 the size of an engine and it's all full of sprockets, so it's not something that could be hidden, or made smaller.
- The sides have a total of 3 rolled up mats tied to the truck. This type of mats are used to sleep on in some armies during field exercises. Two of these are immediately behind the front wheels, where they are sure to become full of mud (useless until thoroughly washed).
- Same kind of mats can can be seen tied to a few other Army of Chaos vehicles.
- Just Cause: Mobile had an vehicle that looked identical to this vehicle. Since the game was cancelled before release, it is unknown if it would have kept its name from Just Cause 4 or not.
- This is the only land vehicle in Just Cause 4 with an externally mounted gun, although not the only vehicle to feature one. The Stormwater Patrol Boat has it, and the Reptile AAV, an amphibious vehicle, has one that can be controlled by the driver.
- With a slower speed, bulky presence, and intended use of transporting troops, this vehicle is somewhat of a successor to the Urga Fura 570.
