This article may seem complete to the untrained eye, but the gaps in information are still large enough for this elite team of Panauan Ninjas to hide inside of. |
This article is about the biomes and climate zones of Solís in Just Cause 4.

Early concept art of Solís, released among pre-launch promotional materials.
Description[]
Solís, the country that Just Cause 4 takes place in, is composed of many regions. Each region belongs to one of the four climate zones/biomes. There are four climate zones: rainforest/jungle, grassland, desert, and snowy mountains. Note that there are no official names, and these are just substitute names given due to their environment and geography.
Biomes and climate zones[]
Below are descriptions about each of the four biomes and climate zones:
Rainforest/jungle[]
The rainforest or jungle biome is the largest of the four. It dominates the eastern half of the map. This climate zone has plenty of wilderness, jungles and rainforests. A typical jungle is essentially a combination of many distinct types of leaves of different shapes, colors and sizes, different kinds of shrubbery, several types of grass, a few different types of trees and other vegetation all densely packed into a mountainous or hilly area. There are also several types of animals, including the tapir, Indo-Brazilian cattle, goats, capybara, wild pig, and llama.
Compared to other biomes, slums seem to be common here. There are also many towns, and a few cities, most notably Quya, the second biggest city in Solís. There are a notable amount of military bases and outposts as well.
Thunderstorms are common throughout this biome, both natural and artificial.
Interestingly, the map description for Ojo de la Jungla mentions an area called the "Selva Allpa". This translates from Spanish and Quecha to "Jungle Land", and could be the name of the jungle, or at least a part of it, but there is no other mention of it.
Grassland[]
The grassland biome appears to be the second largest climate zone, although it is comparable in size with the rainforest. Most regions in the south and south-west are in the grassland. As revealed by the name, there are a lot of flat grasslands in this area, as well as small hills. Forests are also common throughout this area. Most plants in this area are trees, grass, shrubbery and more. Animals populating this region include goats, cattle and more.
In a pre-launch trailer, the grassland is said to be the most densely populated biome. This may be true due to the large amount of farms and towns throughout this area. There are also a few cities in the grassland, most notably the capital, Nueva Voz. Compared to other regions, it seems as though there are less military settlements in the grassland biome.
Tornadoes are common throughout this biome. Most, if not all of them are artificial.
Desert[]
The desert biome is the second smallest climate zone. It dominates most of west of Solís. As revealed by the name, this climate zone has a lot of deserts. Most of the natural objects here are just sand, hills, and brownish-coloured rocks. It seems like the only animals that live in this biome are desert goats.
There are a few poor towns in the desert, and no cities. A notable amount of military settlements can be found throughout this climate zone.
Sandstorms are common throughout this biome. Most of them are natural, but some can be artificially generated.
Snowy mountains[]
The snowy mountains area is by far the smallest climate zone. It is located in the centre of the map. There are many high mountains here, and the environment is filled with snow. Natural objects include tall mountains, snow practically everywhere, and a dark colour of rock. There are some bare trees with leafless branches capped with snow.
Despite the harsh climate, two settlements can be found. Templo del Cielo and Casa Apu. There are a handful of military outposts and bases. Illapa and its defence nodes as well as the central command base Base Aérea Yanacagua can be found in the snowy mountains biome.
Blizzards are common throughout this area. Before Illapa is secured, there is a constant blizzard.
Several map descriptions name this region as the “Sierra Qacha.”
Trivia[]
- The transition between each climate zones are sometimes a little rough: For example, when crossing the border between the rainforest and snowy mountains, one moment there is a blizzard, the next it has completely disappeared. This is because the weather is area-specific.
- The only other game with multiple climate zones is Just Cause 2, where the nation of Panau has jungles, snowy mountains, and a desert.
