Description

The CommLink is a multi-function electronic device integrated into Rico's grappler. It has a small, curved screen (possibly touch-screen), and the map can be seen as a mini-map when it is not in use.

In-game, the CommLink acts as a menu for the player, with five primary features: The map, Rebel Drop, Gear Mods, Leaderboards, and Progress.

In the mission Friends Like These..., it is said that The Agency has given CommLinks to all the rebels in exchange for unknown favors in the future, likely to keep them in line if/when they gain power in Medici. It is unknown how theirs work, or what they look like, as rebels are never seen wearing them in-game or in cutscenes.

Uses

Trivia

  • In previous games in the Just Cause game series, the CommLink is called the PDA.
  • The CommLink cannot be used on Boom Island.
  • In some DLC missions, the CommLink appears to have an app which allows users to communicate via video, similar to popular real-world apps FaceTime or Skype.
  • It is strange that The Agency can afford so many of these likely expensive devices, though it is implied that the agency has recently suffered budget cuts as a result of lavish spending, and this may be no exception. The Agency is also willing to give massive amounts of CommLinks to every rebel, though it's likely this is to gain the favour of the rebels so that they don't step out of line once they've been returned to power.
