D.R.M. (Di Ravello Militia) is a faction in Just Cause 3.
Description[]
The D.R.M. is basically, a low-level government militia that polices urban centers. They are a rare, but low to medium level enemy. It is a gendarmerie indirectly controlled by Sebastiano Di Ravello.
In some mission subtitles they are called the "DRM" (without punctuation). The Rebellion and Alessia refer to them as "Di Ravello's militia".
They are dressed in red and brown uniforms with some wearing police riot gear and helmets. Since the Medici Police Department was disbanded by Di Ravello, it would sort of make sense for them to use the equipment as opposed to let it waste away.
History and effectiveness[]
As revealed in Di Ravello tapes and some propaganda speaker announcements, the Medici Police Department was loyal to the previous government and obstructed Di Ravello's military dictatorship. Di Ravello solved that problem by accusing the police of corruption and replacing it with the D.R.M.
In combat, the D.R.M. is generally inferior to either the Medici Military or the Black Hand, both of which despise them. In some dialogue, members of the Medici Military refer to D.R.M. militiamen as "a bunch of lowlife thugs" and the "dumb ones that don't make it through boot camp", meaning some of them may be failed recruits. Moreover, Black Hand soldiers accuse them of having no discipline and being "an unruly mob of buffoons".
According to some civilians in liberated towns in Medici, the D.R.M. were too lazy (or too busy oppressing the citizens) to actually solve crimes. The civilian dialogue told a story of the man having reported an item stolen a long time ago, but heard nothing from them ever since. After Rebels capture the town, he searched the D.R.M.-occupied police station and found his property. He assumed they did act, but didn't bother to return the stolen item.
Unit types[]
There are three distinct types of militiamen.
Militiamen wear ski masks with three red stripes that make them look like terrorists, although they are technically official authorities. They appear during heat level 1.
Elite militiamen wear ski masks, police riot helmets and riot control body armor. Most are found defending police stations. They have as much health and durability as military commandos.
D.R.M. captains are the only severe threat from a D.R.M. unit and have military-grade equipment, such as armor and a helmet with a visor, making them a lot tougher than all other unit types. They have as much health and durability as military machine gunners and wield the same weapon. They appear as assassination targets as part of town liberations in the following towns:
- Citate di Ravello (3 captains)
- Bellevia
- Colle Salrosa
- Fortalessa
- Lantuina
- Perla Est
- Rondella
- Surpicco
Allies and enemies[]
- Medici Military - Ally.
- Black Hand - Ally by proxy.
- The Rebellion - Enemy.
- Rico - Enemy.
- Anyone else who opposes them - Enemy.
- Common criminals - Unknown. The D.R.M. does not appear to be an equivalent to a proper law enforcement organization, so it's likely they merely oppress citizens and turn a blind eye to all other activities.
Weapons[]
- U-55S Pozhar pistol - Used by militiamen as their standard weapon, although it has also been observed being wielded by captains and elites in some towns and cities, including Ponere. Why this is so is unknown and strange.
- Prizrak U4 SMG - Used by elite militiamen as their standard weapon. Sometimes militiamen protecting captains can also be seen with this weapon.
- Urga Vdova 89 LMG - Used by captains as their standard weapon.
- CS Wraith 225R SMG - Used by militiamen protecting captains. It can also rarely be seen used by militiamen or elites at a few police stations, including the ones in Surpicco, Burgoletto, Nacre, and maybe others.
- UVK-13 RPG - Can only be seen in use by elite militiamen at the Burgoletto police station.
- U-39 Plechovka assault rifle - Used by two militiamen and an elite militiaman in Welcome Home and at Citate Di Ravello near the sphere tanks.
Vehicles[]
- Stria Facocero, marked with their flags at either end and "D.R.M." painted on the sides.
- Police Stria Joias are found at all D.R.M.-occupied police stations and many despawn when the settlement is liberated. These are rarely used.
Trivia[]
- During Welcome Home, the two D.R.M. militiamen and elite attacking Mario wield U-39 Plechovkas. There is only one other place such an occurrence can be seen.
- From a tactical perspective and as presented in-game, replacing the police with a militia is a terrible idea, as militia units are much weaker in combat than a well-trained police force and serve nothing beyond oppression compared to the Medici Military and Black Hand.
- After a recent update, the D.R.M now sometimes respond in Medici Police Department Stria Joias.
- Many players confuse the Medici Military for the D.R.M. since the former might be interpreted as "Di Ravello Military".
- According to the Propaganda Van, prospective members of the D.R.M. must provide their own ski masks.
- According to mission dialogue in "Derailed Extraction", they own an airfield somewhere along the railway line. This could be referring to the unnamed airfield in Maestrale but they have no presence there or anywhere along the train line, so this could be assumed as cut game content from Just Cause 3.
