The Deathstalker Scorpion Rifle, also called the Signature Rifle, is a weapon in Just Cause 4.

Description[]

In terms of small arms, it's a very powerful weapon, but with no info on what technology it uses. It's unclear how it is as powerful and it doesn't look special at all. It might be some sort of explosive round, but the explosion seems quite large for a rifle bullet. The DLC's description (at least on Steam) states that it's "fine-tuned by Rico for his purposes".

Performance[]

It's a semi-automatic rifle that fires explosive shots with some splash damage and the secondary fire is a ricocheting bullet, which is just as powerful but can ricochet off off surfaces. It can ricochet multiple times if it hits another object.

As seen in the supply drop.

It can instantly kill Black Hand privates and is even somewhat useful against structures and light vehicles, but it's obviously no substitute for Rocket Launchers, as it does not pack much punch against vehicles or chaos objects, which take many shots, and it does not have much of a blast radius. Its splash damage makes it possible to catch two soldiers in the blast, possibly more in special circumstances, but enemies do not clump up often. It does not carry much ammunition, with only 13 rounds per magazine, but this is compensated with its power.

It seems to take ammunition from the 21-J Smart Rifle, which sort of makes sense, as this weapon does resemble the aforementioned.

Locations[]

It's available along with other DLC content as soon as the supply drop is unlocked.

It's a part of the "Deathstalker Scorpion Pack" (see Downloadable content for Just Cause 4 for the pack details), but the Just Cause 4 Gold Edition (that comes with the pack) did not originally include it. This weapon was possibly added later by some patch, or maybe the weapons were just miscounted at first?

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, due to it being available as soon as supply drops are unlocked, the player can unlock it for supply drop before the most basic weapons in the game.
  • In a sense, this is the successor to the Final Argument sniper rifle from Just Cause 3, because they are both semi-auto rifles with an explosive capability and are DLC.
