Distillation Towers are destructible chaos objects in Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4.
Common description[]
The towers are used for the industrial distillation of some chemicals, most likely the production of fuel. In the real world, they are an essential component at oil refineries, which would suggest that a few of the places they are found at might have that purpose among others.
Because these towers rely on its contents being very hot when entering the tower - in the case of petroleum products, often to temperatures above auto-ignition temperature - oxygen should not in any way enter the tower. A flare on top of the towers could thereby be considered a safety risk. In the real world, gas flares are entirely separate structures.
Just Cause 3[]
Description[]
They are painted red and a metallic grey, similar to other destructible items in Medici.
The towers are surrounded by a walkway on stilts. There are often soldiers up there. They are always in groups or 2 or more towers and never found alone. There is a pipe on top of the towers that works as a flare.
Destructibility[]
The towers are most easily destroyed using heavy Vehicle mounted weapons and GE-64.
With a little patience, it's possible to destroy them using the Grappler. This is not easy, because they are strangely articulate, being able to bend so far to touch one another.
Destruction of a tower will reward the player with 400 Chaos points, as it is classified as a "large chaos object".
Locations[]
The towers are always in rows of two or four. They always spawn at port bases or port outposts.

Destructibility[]
Treat them as really big vertical fuel tanks. Even prolonged small arms fire, or a few retractors can destroy them without much trouble.
