The Dropzone Chopper is a vehicle in Just Cause 4.

Appearance[]

It's a large transport helicopter with visual similarities to the KAI KUH-1, Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion and aspects of the smaller AgustaWestland AW101.

This helicopter is unarmed, but compensates by carrying soldiers who may shoot from the open doors.

If you count all seats, it could actually carry up to 10 soldiers. This counts the 6 seats behind the 2 main side doors, where two gunners could sit, and the pilot and co-pilot seats. There is also a cargo bay at the back of the helicopter, but the cargo bay is too small for practical use.

It has an unusual landing gear design for a helicopter, with two sets of rear axles on either side.

Performance[]

Mediocre and sluggish. Decent top speed, but poor at climb rate.

As of some update, the chopper seems significantly weaker. Where it used to take three "standard" explosions now seems to have been reduced to two. Still, a helicopter being able to survive a tank shell is still highly unrealistic. This is a result of vehicle equalization.

Versions and locations[]

This chopper can be found flying all over the place in free roam.

Black Hand[]

  • At outposts.
  • At military bases.
  • Often hovers over near Rico and allows snipers to shoot from the open doors. This is common during many missions and during heat. When one of the snipers is killed or falls off, the helicopter turns around so that the other sniper faces the target. If all snipers are killed, the helicopter flies away to despawn.
  • Soldiers rappel down from it during some missions. This can also happen during heat, although rare. In this case, the heli doesn't carry snipers. In new game +, both snipers and rappelling soldiers can be seen on the helicopter.
    • Soldiers firing at Rico are very accurate and can deplete Rico health fairly quickly.
    • Sometime, a glitch can happen, preventing the helicopter from rappelling soldiers or flying away. The helicopter will stay at the same position, but soldiers will not rappel, instead just sitting there firing at Rico.
  • Featured in the mission The Artifact, where Rico and Javi fly one.
  • At least one appears in Thunderbarge: Obtaining The Ion Coil.
  • One is parked at Pueblo Kullu during Training: Drone Activity.

Army of Chaos[]

  • At those same military bases and outposts when taken over, although this may not be the case for every military settlement.
  • Some are provided for a few missions, particularly Sargento's training missions.
  • This vehicle is unlocked in supply drop after completing the mission Training: Dish Destruction.
  • Mira uses this chopper in most missions.
  • Spawns to assist Rico during heat.

"Annabelle"[]

"Annabelle" is a unique one that Tom Sheldon crashed. The helicopter is featured in the mission Agency Distress Beacon.

Unique features:

  • It's painted similarly to the Army of Chaos version, but it doesn't have graffiti, or all the yellow stripes. The pink component, that holds the main propeller on the Army of Chaos version, is red on this version.
  • Has seats near the side doors where there usually aren't any.

Tom talks more about the helicopter during following missions, mentioning that the lightning storm over Zona Dos had fried its circuits.

Initially, it was believed to be an Agency helicopter, but when the Danger Rising DLC came out, Agency vehicles had a different unique paint scheme. In light of this, it's unknown what faction this helicopter is from. It's also possible that it was Tom's personal vehicle.

Trivia[]

  • The way this helicopter is used by NPCs makes it the successor to the CS Comet from Just Cause 3.
  • This is the first helicopter in the game series in which you can call soldiers to get in. Along with that new feature, there's another in which soldiers from two factions can be seen repelling into battle.
  • If it had seats in the middle drop bay and in the cargo bay it could hold up to 22 people: (2 pilots), (4 in the middle drop bay like the seats on Annabelle), (6 in the middle), (10 in the cargo bay). The way this was measured was by setting the airlifters to "auto off". The airlifter is size of a person, so placing them next to each other allows one to count the seats.
  • Strangely, in The Artifact, it is possible to see at least two flying around in the purple dome. It is not known whether this was a mistake by the developers because no vehicles can be operated in the purple domes, or whether there were not enough spores in the air to down the chopper.
  • Unlike the CS Comet from Just Cause 3, when all the snipers are killed, or all soldiers have been dropped down by cable (or killed), the helicopter will retreat. In some missions, it may not, instead hovering over their enemies.
  • Gabriela's version from the mission cutscene is named "v202_helicopter_heavydrop_gabriela" in the game files. This version is identical to the regular version, but there's no name displayed in the HUD.
  • "Annabelle" is one of the few uniquely named vehicles, or vehicle versions. Other such vehicles include: Minerva and Loochador.
