Durango is a province in Just Cause (1).

Description

The province is dominated by the two peaks of Mount Teleno and Mount Gabriel, the two highest mountains in San Esperito. It's a single mountain with two peaks, but unfortunately it's not known which peak is which. One having the fourth Rioja safehouse and the other has no points of interest at all. A Collect mission takes place at the tops of the mountains. The mountain with the safehouse can only be driven up by very few very good off-road vehicles, like The Vampire. The other top is only accessible to aircraft. It may seem that Guerrilla helicopters appear more frequently at high altitude, to fight enemy aircraft, but that's only because the player can see more from up there.

The province is sparsely populated.

An odd thing about this province is its military base, which is one of three that has no vehicles. This could mean that there's either very few crime and the San Esperito Military doesn't consider this place to be a priority, or that there's so much crime that the vehicles don't have any free time to stay at the base. There are two unmarked military bases. One with a brown unmarked Jackson JC - 2 Alamo and the other with an unmarked MV.

This province may have been named after general Jose Durango, but there's no evidence other than the name.

• This is one of two locations starting with "D", the other being Don Ernesto Harbor.
• Durango is also the name of a state in northwest Mexico.
