The Firebrand Scout Chopper is a helicopter in Just Cause 4.

Appearance[]

Its appearance is based on the Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter. In-universe, it resembles the A5 Coyote Assault Chopper.

It has one usable seat and an unusable co-pilot seat. Strangely, both seats have a main control stick and an artificial horizon, so in-universe, it could be flown from both seats. The rear seat has an additional screen, but the helicopter is normally flown from the front seat.

Performance[]

The helicopter is very quick and agile and reaches speeds of up to 190mph. Because of vehicle equalization, it can take as much damage as a tank (surviving two "standard" explosions before the third one destroys the helicopter), while it logically should be fragile as a seemingly lightly armored helicopter.

The helicopter has two miniguns, holding 1,000 machine gun rounds in total.

It has a relatively small turning circle.

Locations[]

Black Hand[]

  • Various Black Hand military installations. When a region is liberated they may not spawn back though.
    • Helipuerto Urqu has a Black Hand version that spawns on the helipad before the region is captured, but after the region is captured, it despawns.
    • More elsewhere.
  • In several missions as an enemy vehicle that must be destroyed.
  • Used to chase Rico in all levels of heat.
  • Can be found at frontlines.
  • Briefly appears in Extermination as (a) helicopter(s) circling the dome. It cannot enter as the engines will fail if it enters.

Army of Chaos[]

Other[]

  • Various locations while on patrol. This can most often be seen as random Black Hand and Army of Chaos versions flying around. The mountain region has a lot of these. The Army of Chaos versions (at least in the mountains) are still flown by Black Hand privates, but they will not give heat. This is most likely a developer oversight.
  • Used in helicopter fights against the Black Hand and the Army of Chaos.
  • Vigía Qhapaq has both an Army of Chaos and Black Hand version of this chopper.
  • Prospero Aeroespacial has one hovering in mid air with the rotors still spinning, but the helicopter lacks a pilot. After the base is captured, the Black Hand version changes into an Army of Chaos version.

Trivia[]

  • While its appearance is based on the AH1Z Viper attack helicopter, its armament is extremely unrealistic, lacking explosive weapons to engage ground targets effectively. Only "gunship" helicopters have just machine guns.
    • Another impracticality of this helicopter is that it seems to be able to take large amounts of damage, which by its size should have relatively few armor.
  • In real life, "scout" or "reconnaissance" helicopters have been replaced by drones, in countries that can afford to keep their militaries updated. It's strange that these are still in use seeing as the Black Hand have several highly advanced drones.
  • This is the successor to the Sivirkin 15 Havoc from Just Cause 2 (by appearance) and Urga Postolka from Just Cause 3.
  • The 'LH567' registration on the tail boom uses the same registration system as Chinese PLAAF helicopters.
  • There's a pre-game launch promotional screenshot that shows the helicopter with 3 miniguns. The third one was in the front center. See more at Cut game content from Just Cause 4.
  • Strangely, in the mission The Artifact, it is possible to see at least one flying inside the purple dome. This was probably an oversight by the developers, because no vehicles can be operated by the player in the purple domes. The Black Hand can rarely operate a few vehicles in the domes. It is believed that this occurs when the vehicle spawns inside the dome, as opposed to spawning outside and then entering the dome. The process of entering the dome is what triggers the vehicles destruction.
  • There is a faction called Firebrand in Just Cause: Mobile. They are a unit of The Agency.
