Good Cop, Bad Cop is the sixth storyline mission in Just Cause (1).

Introduction

Mission information from the PDA: "You have been assigned to assassinate the current chief of police Velasco, who is enjoying himself at his luxury yacht. After you have killed the chief, hitch a ride with Kane out of there."

Rico meets with corrupt policeman Carmona at a shack near the race at Paradiso Bay town. He wants Rico to assassinate the current police chief Velasco, who's hanging out on his super-yacht, La Honradez.

Walkthrough

If you've obtained a helicopter, you can take advantage of the yacht's landing pad and head there. The nearest boat is directly north of the shack - Triereme - RC Athena, the same boat that's otherwise used for a race. Otherwise, you could just swim.

La Honradez is a mission-specific unique ship, so feel free to explore it for the time being. Just be careful around the hostile Pequod - Harpoon PC 350 circling the yacht.

Velasco himself is armed with a Moretti CCW Praetorian, and has about as much health as a Montano subteniente at a cartel villa at the end of the settlement takeover. He is protected by three armed bodyguards.

There are a few ways to kill Velasco:

• A Nova 9 can be found at the lower end of the stairs that you'd use to get from the water to the yacht.
• A Mako Ocra is a good choice if you managed to take it during the previous mission.
• There is a Barclay Phantom outside of the shed that can also be used to snipe Velasco, but he'll take several headshots to kill.
• Hijacking the Pequod - Harpoon PC 350 and using its mounted gun allows Velasco to be picked off at range without even needing to board the yacht.

As soon as Velasco is dead, Kane shows up in a unique armed Triereme - RC Athena. Get on and man the machine gun. Several police Pequod - Harpoon PC 350 patrol boats and Delta 5H4 Boxhead attack helicopters will chase you, while Kane drives you to the "Agency 02 Camp Grouper" safehouse where the mission ends.

Trivia

• The mission scripts are written so poorly that Carmona is not properly named until the mission where he's killed. This leaves the player in confusion whenever if he is mentioned in later missions.
• Judging by its size, La Honradez would presumably cost several hundred million dollars, too much for an average police chief to afford. This might have something to do with Velasco being in favor with Salvador Mendoza or just corruption in general.
  • Interestingly enough, despite losing their chief of police, the police merely send 3 helicopters and 7 boats, rather than a massive influx of vehicles.
• Carmona is the first named traitor to be featured ever, though he would not be the last.
• This is the only story mission that is not given by the Agency or Rioja Cartel.
• The Police Delta 5H4 Boxhead can be obtained by getting out of the mounted gun as soon as the first one spawns, swimming to shore, and grappling onto it.
• Oddly, right before you reach the new safehouse, the police will cease pursuit.
• This mission features some Rare vehicles:
  • This is the only appearance of Police-marked Pequod - Harpoon PC 350 patrol boats and Delta 5H4 Boxhead helicopters outside of sidemissions.
  • La Honradez appears exclusively during this mission.
  • This is the last appearence of an Agency Triereme - RC Athena.
• It's not known if it is this mission or not, but around this mission, San Esperito Military soldiers will start appearing in liberations.
• The GP Thunder Extreme Prototype and Bald Eagle Persuader are unlocked for heavy drop after this mission.
