Kampung Ekor Bengkok is a village in Just Cause 2.
Description[]
Kampung Ekor Bengkok is Malay and Indonesian for "Crooked Tail Village", which makes no sense. The village has a vast amount of ancient stone buildings, a hotel, a bell tower in the lower village and a small Buddhist temple. A steep cliff is located south of the village. The village is close to the top of the Desert Peak. There's no paved/dirt road leading to the village, which means that there are limited options to get here. This and the lack of Panau Military presence makes it a peaceful town.
Location[]
It's located directly south of the Gunung Merah Radar Facility, high up the Desert Peak mountain in the Lautan Lama Desert. It's one of the highest civilian settlements in the game, located over 1200 meters high.
The location is odd for a village because the only way to reach it is by climbing the mountain, or using aircraft. The village has no helicopter landing pad, though. The most obvious problem for the villagers would be water, which could be pumped up the mountain through an underground pipeline. There's a pipeline at the nearby Unnamed outpost at X:8300; Y:28370 (also on the mountain), so it's safe to assume that this village has a water pipe. The problem of food and other supplies remains. In reality, remote locations in jungles, mountains or tundras are often visited by transport helicopters. It is possible that the airforce uses one of its H-62 Quapaws for this. Both Kem Jalan Merpati airport and Kem Port Pelangi harbor are relatively close by.
While there is obviously no airstrip here, there is a relatively small area near this village which could accommodate aircraft.
Vehicles[]
Even though there is no road access, random civilian vehicles can be found parked at the village. This seems to most commonly include Chevalier utility vehicles, such as Chevalier Traveller SX (in the gallery below). However, other ones can spawn as well, like the Chevalier Traveller SC or even Chevalier Traveller SD.
Completion[]
- 1 Water Tower.
- 5 Resource items:
- 2 Vehicle Parts.
- 1 Weapon Part.
- 1 Armor Part.
- 1 Cash Stash.
Trivia[]
- There are several impracticalities with this village.
- Civilian vehicles being here is very odd unless the military airlifted said vehicles from other locations and brought them here. Given how little the Panau Military regard civilians, it's unknown and highly impractical as to how civilian vehicles appear here.
- The most obvious problem for the villagers would be water, which could be pumped up the mountain through an underground pipeline. However, no such pipeline can be seen, meaning they either get water through other means or rain, which appears to be very scarce in this region.
- This is one of the very few settlements in Panau with no Panau Military presence.
