Lanza Morales is a character in Just Cause 4.
Personal info[]
He is the father of Gabriela Morales and the uncle of Mira Morales.
Lanza is believed to be a native Solino.
Career[]
As explained in the mission Meeting Lanza Morales, which occurs after Rico rescues him, Lanza Morales was a major scientist who contributed to Project Illapa. After Oscar Espinosa came to power and weaponized the project, Miguel leaves to reunite with his family (in Medici). Oscar feared that Lanza would leave too and ordered Gabriela Morales incarcerated him at La Mazmorra prison, where Lanza was forced to continued his work. However, Lanza also managed to leave a discreet weakness within the Sandstorm Core at Zona Uno, in that its shield must be opened for ventilation when it overheats, rendering it vulnerable.
Lanza would later help with planning the raid on Zona Uno to stop the weather weapon there.
Posttraumatic stress[]
Lanza seems to have posttraumatic stress from his stay in prison.
At the start of the mission Meeting Lanza Morales, Mira says that he is fine, but that couldn't sleep well during the first couple of nights after being rescued in the mission Mazmorra Rescue. This is normal, considering that he had just lived a very calm and limited life, confined to the prison cell for about 20 years.
A more serious problem is that the mission Meeting Lanza Morales is set a few days after his rescue and he is still wearing the prison uniform. The mission Sandstinger: Train Robbery is set possibly a whole week after his rescue and he still hadn't changed to civilian clothing, although he had folded the top half of the uniform around his waist, which likely wouldn't have been allowed in prison. He wears this until the end of the storyline in Operation Illapa.
At that point in time Solís is still in the middle of a civil war, but clothing couldn't be that hard to find. This indicates that he has trouble letting go of his life in confinement.
Connection to the events of Just Cause 3[]
Reported here, by User:AEgaming2.
Lanza's cell at the La Mazmorra prison is cluttered with his scientific equipment, notes, and designs for Project Illapa. However, there are also a number of personal photos that he has pinned to the walls and placed on the tables etc. Among these is an interesting stack of photos (see below in the gallery).
To the left, is the logo of The Rebellion in Medici (Just Cause 3). The images to the right appear to be pictures of Vigilator Nord or Vigilator Sud (military bases in Medici), that are known for their iconic radar/communication equipment masts. This suggests that Lanza has something to do with The Rebellion and one of the two bases.
It's unknown how those bases and The Rebellion are relevant to Lanza.
