The Large-Scale Fragmentation Device is a mining device featured in the Sky Fortress DLC of Just Cause 3.

Description[]

It's a big energy beam device intended to be used for large-scale mining.

Development[]

This project is described in the mission Severance and in the Eden Callaghan tapes.

After the potential of Bavarium was discovered at eDEN Station: The Pegasus, the development of the device began. Early small-scale tests (with at least one test taking place on February 14, 1991) showed (in some unspecified way) that this would cause unacceptable damage to the environment. Eden Callaghan fired those board members who didn't like the project and chose to invest more into it. A larger scale test at some point in 1992 caused 12 deaths and massive environmental damage (of some unspecified type). This resulted in the loss of most, if not all, private funding and contributed to the eDEN Corporation's bankruptcy.

eDEN Airship[]

Main article: Mission Severance.

The device remained operational aboard the eDEN Airship, after the corporation's bankruptcy. After Rico destroyed eDEN Extraction Site Alpha and eDEN Extraction Site Bravo, Eden wanted to use the fragmentation device to get Medici's Bavarium. Rico then destroyed the device before it could be used. Its debris fell into the sea beneath the EDEN Airspace.
