Pekan Desa is a village in Just Cause 2.
Description[]
Oddly, the name means "Village village" in Malaysian, since "Desa" is another word for village.
The road to the village has constant traffic.
Travelling along the road leading to the village, the first thing one would see is a small outpost at the nearest crossroad. It's still well outside settlement limits, about 1.4 km to the east. The outpost has a big sign in Panauan; a fruitstand and a vehicle part. There's an odd place on the road at the outpost, where the road changes its color. It's still a gravel/dirt road, but differently colored.
Entering the village at the eastern end, one would first get to a modern house with 2 vending machines; 2 phone booths and a Red Barrel next to it. Next there's a Propaganda Trailer across the road and then there's the typical old cabins you see in West Tanah Raya. These cabins have strange roofs and are located on pillars high above the ground. It's unknown how anyone is suppose to enter them, because there are no ladders or stairs leading up there. 8 of them, on the left side of the road, are too small to be used by humans. They may be designed for pets, or something in the style of a children's treehouse. Or maybe they're a part of the religious purpose of this village?
Continuing west on the dirt road, there's a modern shack; some boxes and 2 more red barrels. This middle part of the settlement is in isolation and must be for maintenance supplies, or something.
The west end of village has an ancient altar building and an open air restaurant, with a roof over it. A Pandak "Baby" Panay Statue has been erected next to the altar.
Turning right at the shrine and continuing uphill on the dirt track, there's a wooden observation deck on the edge of the cliff, with a view to the west.
Purpose[]
The settlement was probably once an Ular Tribe holy site, but by now it's a tourist attraction. The current Panau government has set up the statue and the propaganda trailer to effect both the locals and the tourists.
Location[]
In the eastern part of West Tanah Raya, just north of Kem Tentera Timur. On a steep jungle-covered mountainside, just below the snow line. There's a dirt road leading to the village, which also ends there.
