This article may seem complete to the untrained eye, but the gaps in information are still large enough for this elite team of Panauan Ninjas to hide inside of. |

Pelantar Minyak Gerudi Besar is an offshore rig in Just Cause 2.
Location[]
West of the Lautan Lama Desert, at X:790; Y:22480. It's the most western rig in Panau.
Description[]
The rig is identical to all other offshore rigs in the country and it would have the same importance to complete it, but some things are different.
The first two words in the name are not the same as other offshore rigs. Other rigs start with "Pelantar Gas". It seems like the rig is for oil, not for natural gas and that would explain the name "Pelantar Minyak" which means oil rig in Malaysian. Unlike other offshore rigs, this one will stay a restricted area even after you have completed it. It's also the only rig featured in a mission. The full name means "Large Oil Drilling Platform" in Malaysian.
Nothing is known about the oil production at this rig, but real rigs of this size can produce a little more than 140'000 barrels a day, so it can be assumed that this rig produces about that much. It stands for at least 80% of the total oil production in Panau. Still, the production is too small to serve the country and the government imports much oil from Brunei.
Oddly, despite being a rig, no boats spawn here. That means every civilian employee arrives by the UH-10 Chippewa.
Completion[]
Warning before destroying this rig: Do not try to complete this rig before the mission "Black Gold". This will make the mission incompletable.
It is advised to completely destroy this oil rig either during the mission "Black Gold", or some time after the mission is completed. Destroying this oil rig, or some of its parts (drilling tower, crane, ...) will provide lots of chaos points and will take away from the required amount needed to complete the aforementioned mission.
If you decide to start, or have started on this oil rig before the mission, choose your destructible items carefully, or only collect the resource parts needed to complete the oil rig. Going with the latter option would make completing the oil rig easier during the mission.
