The Power Core is a weapon and tool in the Mech Land Assault DLC of Just Cause 3.
Description[]
It is a key to power generators on Insula Lacrima, thus explaining the non-gun like shape on the back. The barrel has the signature blue Bavarium glow with the rest being eDEN colors.
The Rebel drop description states: "Fusion core used to power the Mech's Gravitational Remote Influence Projector (aka GRIP), which doubles as a formidable stand-alone handheld weapon."
Performance[]
It seems to not work very well for man to man combat. It does however fair well when shooting at a moving vehicle. The power core will shut down the engine and turn the vehicle, causing them to crash.
It performs very similarly to The Thunderbird but will ping soldiers at great distances if used correctly. It's not effective against parked vehicles, but will disable mechs for Hijacking. As shown in the rebel drop video, it can also take down normal helicopters.
Interestingly, despite the fact that it can disable enemy helicopters and cause them to crash, this weapon will have heavy to moderate effect on planes if shot at the right time it can cause it to shut down the engine and tilt either right or left and crash.
The Thunderbird can be considered more powerful than the Power Core because it can instantly destroy vehicles while the Power Core disables vehicles which- if on land or sea- may not blow up upon crashing. However, this is balanced by the Power Core's infinite ammunition.
One might speculate that it shoots out an electromagnetic pulse.
Locations[]
Disposable versions:
- Sources can be found during Stowaway at the Lacrima airport and the Mech Charging Station at the Weapons Shipment Yard (south-west port at Lacrima).
- Destroyed Mechs also have Power Cores located in their GRIP that can be picked up.
Reusable version:
- Unlocked for Rebel drop after completing Storming the Hive.
Trivia[]
- When Rico uses up the two EMP charges on the dispenser version, he throws the gun away, similar to how he does so to weapons in Just Cause 4.
