Próspero (full name Grupo Prospero) is a company in Just Cause 4.
Name[]
It's mentioned on the Solís Hoy radio that the full name of the company is "Grupo Prospero", but sources differ on whether it should be spelled as "Prospero", or "Próspero". This is likely a development oversight.
Description[]
This corporation is a group of large companies all owned by Oscar Espinosa.
The company is advertised on the Solís Hoy radio and explained to be manufacturing all weapons and vehicles for the Black Hand, though they used the products of various other companies during the events of the previous games.
Ground and sea vehicles produced by the company often feature windshields made up of three glass panels and grilles with three vertical bars.
Factories[]
They own many factories across Solís. These factories are protected by the Black Hand and double as Black Hand military bases. These include:
- Prospero Aeroespacial - Factory for making and storing aircraft that also doubles as an air force base.
- Prospero Astillero - Shipyard.
- Prospero Balística - Weapons factory (personal weapons for soldiers).
- Prospero Robótica - Factory for making drones and testing A.I.
- Prospero Tanques - Factory for making tanks, armored trucks and artillery. Also a place for training tank crews. This factory has been "commandeered" by the Black Hand in order to improve the production capacity.
- Prospero Torretas - Factory for making turrets and testing A.I.
Divisions[]
Not much is known about Prospero's subdivisions. One division seems to be is "PBX" (actual name unknown).
There are 3 guns in the game with the PBX prefix. These include the PBX Auto-Slug 4, PBX Super-Sniper 4, and PBX Mine Launcher 2A7.
It makes sense to assume that that is their company name, but Prospero advertisements on the radio claim that they manufacture all the weapons and vehicles for the Black Hand. Realistically, it is also reasonable to assume that advertisements are usually exaggerating.
Since all three weapons seem like either new (mine launcher), or better versions of others in their type, PBX could be something like an advanced weapons branch of Grupo Prospero. Another odd thing is that the Black Hand never use these weapons, which could mean any weapon in the PBX category are new weapon types that have not been taken into use yet, like perhaps they are possibly on a waiting list for testing and approval by some commission.
PBX might be an acronym for "Prospero Balística Experimental" or something similar, which would make sense if they were in testing or awaiting approval.
Another possible division is Black Hand Armaments LTD, which is mentioned in small print on a few weapons.
History[]
As explained on the radio, the company has existed for over 50 years and provides thousands of jobs. They proudly provide the Black Hand with all the weapons and vehicles that they need.
The company was unheard of before the events of Just Cause 4 and the Black Hand in JC1 and the Black Hand in JC3 were using the products of many different companies. This indicates that the company must have been much smaller until recently.
As mentioned on the radio after the mission Operation Illapa, the future of the company is very uncertain. However, since the Army of Chaos is relying entirely on their products and they are the largest non-combatant employer in Solís, it is likely that the company will stay for a while, but under control of the Army of Chaos.

Trivia[]
- The name "Prospero" most likely originates from the character of the same name from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" who, notably, can control the weather. This could be a reference to Project Illapa.
