The Próspero Sky Crane is a vehicle in Just Cause 4.

Appearance[]

It's a big armored transport helicopter with a magnet that can attach vehicles and other things. It appears to be based on the Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane heavy lift helicopter.

This helicopter is unarmed, but well armored.

Performance[]

The Próspero Sky Crane has a top speed of 269 km/h (~167 mph), but takes a while to reach it.

It has the same HP as a tank: requiring 3 RPG shots or heavy cannon rounds to destroy, due to equalization. In reality, even an armored helicopter like this shouldn't be able to survive as much damage as a tank can.

There is a magnetic crane thing suspended from the chopper by a rope. It can attach to almost anything short of the ground itself, and the helicopter and the cord are both very strong, allowing it to lift things that would be impossible in real life, such as big cargo planes. Also, objects don't need to be magnetic to be attached - Umas and NPCs can be lifted as well.

Controls for the crane are never explicitly stated in the game, so it can be quite confusing. Some basic controls (on PC):

  • When the crane is not attached to anything, tap LMB to lower the crane. It will lower as far as it can, or until it attaches to something.
  • When the crane is in the middle of being lowered, tap LMB again to raise it back up and cancel the attachment.
  • Once attached, the crane will automatically reel the object towards the helicopter. No need to press any buttons.
  • To detach an object, tap LMB. Be patient as the crane will slowly lower the object until using up all the rope before detaching the object. If you tap LMB again, it will reel it back up and cancel the detachment.

For consoles, use whichever crane control button (might be stated on screen if you turn button hints on in the HUD) instead of the LMB in all mentioned instances.

Also, if the crane can be lowered to the height of an object, a transparent hologram of the magnetic block will appear on the object, representing where the crane will lower towards. Red indicates that the object cannot be attached, while green indicates that it can.

There are three camera angles, the default helicopter perspective and another that shifts the camera downwards and closer to the chopper to be horizontally level with it. The last one is a special crane perspective that is seen from the belly of the chopper, allowing the player to clearly see the crane and the hologram.

Versions and locations[]

Black Hand[]

A patch in May, 2019 added Black Hand Sky Cranes that spawn with a sphere tank attached to the magnet.

  • Randomly in the sky. They fly in a straight line (changing altitude to avoid mountains) until random Army of Chaos units (or the player) destroy them.

Army of Chaos[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the successor to the H-62 Quapaw from Just Cause 2.
  • Interestingly enough, this helicopter has 2 usable seats including the driver's seat. However, when you honk your horn for an Army of Chaos soldier to hop in, he/she will come and attempt to get in, but fail to do so because of the height between the chopper and the ground.
  • It's made by Próspero.
  • The Armadillo Crane Truck also has one of these magnet cranes.
