The Reptile AAV is a vehicle in Just Cause 4.

Appearance[]

This vehicle is a lightly armored modern six-wheeled military vehicle with an internally remote-controlled MG turret.

This vehicle is considered a successor to the Meister LAV 4 series 2 from Just Cause, as well as to the CS Baltdjur from Just Cause 3.

Most of the hull resembles the real TPz Fuchs, but the upper front plate is a big low-angle flat panel and there are no front doors.

It is unknown what this vehicle's type actually is. It is much too poorly armed to be an IFV and it completely lacks a passenger compartment door, so it would be one of the worst designed APCs ever.

The vehicle has strong similarities to the aforementioned Baltdjur, with the same angled front and roof hatch. The only important change is that is even boxier and simpler than the former, lacking the extra doors on the sides and rear. The gun is no longer operable by a gunner, instead being remotely controlled by the driver.

Performance[]

It is one of the several amphibious vehicles in the game. It is highly similar to the CS Baltdjur.

Pretty fast for an APC, as it can go at around 120 km/h on a straight line, but the acceleration is rather sluggish. In water it can go 58 km/h, which is about 5 times faster than equivalent real vehicles can do.

Based on the look and the fact that it's just an APC, this vehicle is probably lightly armored when compared to tanks. However, it is about just as durable as all other armored vehicles (able to withstand 2 direct hits from a tank before the third blows it up) because of equalization. In real life, an APC like this would probably blow up upon one - or perhaps two - armor-piercing or HEAT shells.

It comes with a mounted MG with 1,600 rounds.

Versions and locations[]

Black Hand[]

  • Sent by Black Hand during heat at a medium to high level.
  • At some Black Hand bases. Once taken over by the Army of Chaos, they may not spawn back, though that may not be the case for every base.
  • Some infestation areas from the Los Demonios DLC have Black Hand versions of this vehicle captured by the "demonic threat". These are not driven. Instead they're held up by a large plant tendril. The MG turret thus functions as an anti-infantry and anti-aircraft weapon.
  • Zona Uno.

Army of Chaos[]

Other[]

  • Wrecks of this vehicle can be found at many civilian junkyards.
  • Often at the front.

Trivia[]

  • It is not known what kind of vehicle this is, with "amphibious military vehicle" arguably the most specific name with the least controversy.
    • "AAV" could stand for Amphibious Assault Vehicle. Without ever being explained in the game, that's only a guess.
    • It's shaped like an average armored personnel carrier, but it lacks a troop deployment door. This means that deploying troops from this vehicle would be a time-consuming and inconvenient task, if that ever was its purpose.
    • Simple APCs are becoming rare in reality, as they are being replaced with vehicles that have powerful mounted weapons. This turns them into infantry fighting vehicles. About half of the world's IFVs can be used as APCs, but the Reptile AAV is much too lightly armed or armored to qualify as an IFV. The Prizefighter Tank is a more realistical example of an IFV.
  • As an armored amphibious vehicle with a gun turret, the Reptile AAV can be considered the spiritual successor to the CS Baltdjur from Just Cause 3.
  • Some pre-release pictures show an early concept model of this vehicle that features large doors in the rear. Those doors would have made it a more proper APC.
