Rocanegra Shutdown is a mission in Just Cause 4.

Introduction

Quote from the map icon: "This oil refinery is automated. Hack the system to take over the network, rendering the mine defenseless."

If Rico sets Mina Rocanegra as his destination, Sargento will remark that the mine belongs to Espetrol and that most of the gasoline is mined from here. Izzy says that if the Army of Chaos were to take the mine, it would mean much more "plata" (money) to them and less money towards the Black hand. Izzy even says that the mine can be taken without a single shot fired.

Walkthrough

When Rico arrives at the mine, he doesn't see any Black Hand.

The mine's control panel is located inside the mountain, behind a large locked door. Sargento suggests opening it by driving one of the quarry trucks to the door. A scanner at the door will detect the truck and open it.

Sargento informs Rico that he should "Try not to run over anybody, Rico. Nobody WANTS to work at Mina Rocanegra."

There are multiple Black Hand soldiers behind the door. They will immediately notice that Rico is not authorized for entry and start shooting at him, but the truck is strong enough to just ignore them. A road leads further into the tunnel.

At the back of the tunnel is a marked console. Izzy needs Rico to plug the grappler into it so she can remotely hack it to raise a transmitter. Once it's hacked, head outside.

Multiple transmitters will be raised, but one at a time. Rico has to defend them all. Fortunately, there are unmanned Spectre Attack Helicopters on the ground that can be used. There are also plenty of Black Hand Firebrand Scout Choppers that can be hijacked.

At the second transmitter, a SkyCastle Cargo Jet will fly by. Destroy it if you want, but the paratroopers will be the main threat there.

Finally, at the third transmitter, the Black Hand will attempt to use all their might to prevent the transmitter from working. Choppers, machine gunners, and even a Prizefighter Tank will be deployed to try and prevent the upload.

The mission is complete once the third transmitter is successfully defended.

Trivia

• Either Sargento doesn't know what he's talking about, or this is some really weird mine. According to him, gasoline is mined from here. In reality some crude oil reservoirs have been mined, but gasoline is really only produced by separating it from (refining) crude oil.
