The Tendrilizer is a weapon in Just Cause 4. It's part of the Los Demonios DLC.

Appearance[]

It is a special gun that seems to be entirely made of organic matter. There is a big ball in the middle of it that is shaped like a brain. This brain is constantly moving weirdly. It also has brown balls at either end, which glow yellow in darkness.

The weapon also makes cow noises occasionally.

Performance[]

When fired at people/buildings/vehicles, it just launches a tracer round that does nothing.

When fired at any natural surface (it also works on roads), it makes a giant tendril holding a Warchief Assault Tank pop out of the ground. The tanks are all "possessed" by the tendrils, which it uses to attack anything nearby, from civilians and animals to Army of Chaos rebels, Black Hand soldiers and even Rico.

The tendrils can survive a large amount of damage and can be destroyed with no less than three hits from most heavy explosive weapons. Once they take enough damage, the Warchief Assault Tank explodes, the tendril throws the wreck away and sinks into the ground before despawning.

Only 2 tendrils can exist at the same time. Attempting to spawn more when the current two tendrils are active will destroy the the earliest spawned tendril.

If the area is reloaded, any spawned tendrils will despawn.

Location[]

It is hidden in the middle of a bush on the roof of the "observation post" at Isla de los Annilos. The spawn point becomes unlocked after completing Extermination.

Difficulty in locating[]

See the map in the below gallery.

The problem is that the tendrilizer despawns if the player goes in the wrong direction from it, because things like that despawn from a certain range. And it won't just respawn when the player is back in range. It's unknown what all the conditions are for making it spawn/respawn. See the talk page for an investigation into this.

Searching all the ruins is not a good idea, because the despawn range is about half the size of the ruins.

Closing and opening the game should force it to respawn.

If it still isn't there, PC players can get the Entity Spawner mod and input the text: "spawn seed". The gun should be the only thing that pops up on the hint bar section.

Trivia[]

  • This weapon was announced on July 8th, 2019, after the Los Demonios DLC had been out for a few weeks already.
  • Practical use for this weapon, like with the Demon Eggs supply drop, is somewhat limited, as the tendrils spawned will fire indiscriminately both on Black Hand and against Rico.
  • Shooting at roads under a tunnel or bridge will cause the tendrils to glitch and clip right through/into the bridge/mountain/hill above.
  • To some minor extent, this weapon can be considered a semi-easter egg.
    • Machete - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause. This weapon is only seen in at a unique hidden location.
    • Happy Bubble Blaster - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause 2. This weapon deals no damage.
    • DK Pistol - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause 3. It inflates the heads of anyone they hit, but can't deal damage.
    • Kousavá - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause 3. This is a fan-designed weapon that is also DLC.
    • Cow Gun - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause 4. It has infinite ammunition and turns people into cows and cows into Sebastiano Di Ravello.
    • The Dragon - Similarly unique weapon in Just Cause 4. This is a fan-designed weapon that is also DLC.
  • This weapon seems to be a bit rough around the edges possibly as a result of semi-broken programming.
    • The icon for it is the same as a 21-J Smart-Rifle.
    • Both the ammunition usable before reloading and the ammunition in the weapon flash red (indicating low amount) even if both are completely full.
    • The apparent 48 additional units of ammunition stored in the weapon are unusable.
    • The tracer from shots fired does not go away even if they successfully spawn a tendril.
  • The amount of damage that it takes to destroy one (3 hits from a heavy weapon) is the same as that of other heavily armored vehicles in the game.
