The U-24 Zabijak is a weapon in Just Cause 3.

Description[]

It's a small lever-action shotgun. Given its short barrel and lack of a stock, it resembles a sawed-off shotgun, but the weapon does have a front sight and the rear handle is more vertical than it normally is on similar weapons with a stock.

It resembles a sawed off Winchester Model 1887 and the Remington 870 "Witness Protection". The side of the weapon has an engraving "RYS-12", indicating that it might use 12 gauge ammunition, even though this weapon more likely uses something like 20, or 28 gauge, or as the name hints: 24 gauge ammunition. The "24" in "U-24" might stand for this.

It can be dual wielded, meaning that this weapon is used single handedly. It is uncomfortable and difficult to operate real lever-action guns that way. However, pump action guns would be impossible to reload single handedly.

The Rebel drop description says "You know what's better than one shotgun you hold in two hand? Two shotguns held in... two hands. Two shotguns, two hands. Not great for long distance firefights."

Performance[]

As the rebel drop description suggests, the Zabijak is very damaging at close range but lacks much power at long range. It's best to use it as a one-hit kill against unarmored grunts.

Interestingly, despite being both an exotic and dual wielded weapon, the Zabijak shares ammo with the Automat U12 and U-96 Kladivo shotguns, and its ammo can be replenished if you can find one of them. This is likely because while they are in different categories, they are still shotguns.

If one carries both Zabijak and one of the two handed shotguns, they share ammo as well, meaning if one depletes their Zabijak ammunition, their other shotgun will be depleted too. This could be a possible glitch. Also, when more ammo is obtained for the Zabijak, it will display the icon of whatever two-handed weapon is equipped.

Trivia[]

  • "Zabijak" (pronounced "za-bi-yak") means "killer" in Slovak, Czech and Polish.
  • The gun has "RYS-12" written on it, which might have been it's pre-release name. See also: Cut game content from Just Cause 3.
  • The way Rico reloads it is similar to the Terminator in Terminator 2, where the Terminator was also using a lever-action shotgun.
  • Interestingly, if you happen to come upon the Black Hand appearing everywhere glitch, Black Hand Aegis troopers might spawn with this weapon. Their shots are very condensed, meaning they can easily kill random Rebellion soldiers. They also shoot very rapidly when using it. This is probably normal game behavior, as some Black Hand soldiers rarely spawn with this weapon on Insula Lacrima. The same weapons could appear with the same soldiers through the spawning glitch.
  • The gun's operation is very strange. Each weapon can fire 2 shots before Rico operates the lever, and a shell is ejected after each shot. This would make the gun, realistically, semi automatic, or double barreled.
  • Unrealistically, Rico never physically reloads it, and merely flip-cocks the gun.
