This article may seem complete to the untrained eye, but the gaps in information are still large enough for this elite team of Panauan Ninjas to hide inside of. |

Ups and Downs is the first Reapers faction mission in Just Cause 2.
Introduction[]
Bolo Santosi needs a man who knows his guns and explosives. Good thing Rico is around.
Walkthrough[]
The target of this mission is Lembah Genting Tinggi's bio fuel shaft. You're left at the phone booth with a weapons crate and a motorcycle. It's not too far to the base - ride up and deal with the sentry guards. When you arrive at the base, Bolo tells you that blowing the shaft would set off a huge explosion.
The site is poorly guarded until Rico starts to make his way down the shaft. Explore and pick up the many cash stash, parts and armor laying around before dropping down. You will also find an armored car, good for having fun blowing the place up.
When you're ready, drop down into the bio fuel shaft and hack the console code to initiate an overload. That won't be healthy for Rico and you must quickly grapple your way out to avoid becoming part of the show. Take your time to get the maximum height, do not panic and feebly try to grapple your way up, doing it properly it should only take you one or two shots to get out. There is an AH-33 Topachula right beside the shaft, but using it to escape this base is not necessary. If you do take it and have not disabled the SAMs nearby, prepare to evade missile launches at point blank range. An UH-10 Chippewa will also attempt to intercept you if you fly out, but that is not important: the mission is already a success.
Trivia[]
- This is the only mission starting with the letter "U". That is, unless you count the submarines in Just Cause 4.
- This is one of the few missions where the Demolition Officer does not use a Submachine Gun in missions. However, he is at the bottom of a Bio Fuel Shaft, where every Demolition Officer, regardless of mission or non-mission, uses a two-handed weapon.
- Completing the base ahead of time on PC will not make the mission undoable, but it is still advised to leave the bio fuel shaft untouched in the event the game doesn't respawn one. Xbox 360 and PS3 game versions are unconfirmed.
- Vaivenes, a region in Just Cause 4, translates to "Ups and Downs".
