The Urga Vulkan is a rotary machine gun featured in Just Cause 3.
Description[]
The original rebel drop description found in the game files states: "Only the strongest of men can carry this destructive weapon and only the fastest of men can run away before it starts firing."
Appearance[]
It is a black six-barreled rotary machine gun with a few handles for use, driven by a sophisticated electrical motor and compete with a flash hider. It has an ammunition box attached beneath and a warning sticker on the body.
Performance[]
Urga Vulkan's very high rate of fire combined with its infinite ammunition and lack of reloading or overheating mechanics easily makes it one of the most destructive weapons. Its sheer power is enough to kill infantry in seconds and shred many vehicles very quickly, save for the likes of CS Odjur which can survive a bit longer under fire.
The main disadvantage of this weapon is its elusiveness, as it's too big to fit inside Rico's inventory, and only ever spawns in a specific locations. More often than not, the Vulkan is usually unavailable when it's needed the most. While wielding it, Rico cannot use other weapons, sprint, or jump, making him rather vulnerable to counterattacks.
Locations[]
During free-roam gameplay[]
- Always in hardened pillboxes beside roads and bases.
- Wielded by Titans that only spawn in specific settlements. Once they are killed, the weapon can be used normally.
- At mines, police stations, and military bases.
- Two of them at Puncta Sud up around the final transformer and on the western helipad scaling the satellite dish tower.
- On the eDEN Airship.
- At many Military bases in Medici on tripods.
- At many police stations on tripods.
Mission locations[]
- One appears during the final segment of Welcome Home at Dimah's farm on a tower, where it can be used to fend off Medici Military vehicles. It does not appear outside of the mission.
Trivia[]
- It's made by the fictional company Urga.
- The Urga Vulkan can be considered the spiritual successor to the Minigun in Just Cause 2 and the predecessor to the Machine Gun in Just Cause 4.
- Judging by the unused Rebel Drop description, the Urga Vulkan may have also been avaliable through that source. See also Cut game content from Just Cause 3.
- This weapon, though named after the M61 Vulcan rotary cannon, is based on the M134 Machine Gun with a flash hider borrowed from the muzzle of the GAU-8.
- As certain elements of the Just Cause Universe can overlap with real life, this weapon could also be be Urga's licensed equivalent of the M134.
- The writing on the ammunition box indicates it fires 7.62mm caliber ammunition, just like the real M134, yet they are erroneously attributed to the .50 cal several times throughout the game. This mistake is repeated once more in Just Cause 4, where the Machine Gun is erroneously referred to as the .50 Cal Machine Gun even though it is still based on the M134.
- .50 Cal rotary machine guns do exist in real life, as in the case of the three-barreled GAU-19, though generally with lower rates of fire due to their bigger caliber.
- For some reason, the weapon's barrels do not rotate like its Just Cause 2 equivalent.
