The Vaultier Sedan Patrol Compact is a law enforcement vehicle in Just Cause (1).
Description[]
It appears to have been made in the 1960s if not the 50s. It's shaped like a conventional car: 4 doors; engine at the front; cargo compartment at the rear. It's made by the fictional Vaultier company. It resembles the real-life Plymouth Valiant and 1958 Plymouth Fury.
As a standard police car, it has been given a few special features:
- Extra front bumper, for ramming.
- A siren.
- A searchlight on the right side, near the front door.
Performance[]
It is one of the best cars in the game. It is not competitive compared to sports cars, but still holds its own with good agility and speed. It can even turn sharply at high speeds.
Coding special features[]
The police variant of the Patrol Compact will always carry two police officers with black caps, who otherwise patrol in towns and cities on foot. They will always carry Harker 357 Sawback revolvers.
The military variant will always carry two grunt soldiers wielding Aviv Panthera submachine guns, who are more commonplace in Wallys GPs.
Locations[]
San Esperito Police Department[]
- Appears randomly in traffic, all over San Esperito, but only in the influence of towns and cities. This is where it can be seen outside of heat.
- Appears during government heat level 3 - 5 outside towns and cities - this is the case from the start of the game up to I've Got the Power.
- From Guadalicano Choo Choo and upwards, it will only appear at heat level 3 outside cities and towns.
- Appears in side-mission heat levels 1-4. Military will take over at level 5 in side-missions.
- Appears during the mission Breakout, where four are placed near the front gate of El Grande Fort after you free Caramicas.
- Appears during a Guerrilla sidemission, where it must be hijacked and delivered to a garage.
San Esperito Military[]
This version only appears after Guadalicano Choo Choo commonly, but can appear after Some Like it Hotter.
- Appears commonly at heat level 5 in towns and cities after the mission Some Like it Hotter and up to the end of the game (providing the settlement is Government stable).
- Can rarely appear outside of towns and cities at heat level 4 only (replacing the police variant), but only after Guadalicano Choo Choo.
Trivia[]
- There are no reverse lights on the vehicle.
- Instead of a second mirror on the right side, the spotlight is there.
- The vehicle has the same engine texture as the Vaultier ALEV Patrol Special.
- If you kill the driver while the lights and sirens are on, the sirens will go silent but the lights will stay on. You can then get in the vehicle and drive it without the sirens on. This works for every vehicle in Just Cause 1 equipped with a siren.
- Like the Ballard series armored vehicles, the tires are not connected to the vehicle. This can be seen if you pop off the fender.
