The weird cave near Puerto Diego is a large unnamed natural object in Just Cause 4.

Puerto Diego and weird cave (seen from south-west)

Description[]

The cave and mountain that it's in have no known official name, so for the purposes of the article, it's named after the nearby military base: Puerto Diego.

This place is a big desert mountain with a big cave in it. The cave has a big round natural hole in the middle of its ceiling/roof. The hole is roughly 260 meters across. There are two sea-level entrances to the cave and the inside is navigable for boats. All cave areas are big enough to be enterable by most aircraft.

Solís (and Medici) have many large caves, but this one is unique for its weird qualities. Not only does it have a suspiciously round sky window and boat-navigable interior, but the entire mountain has several areas where the stone (if that even is what that is) is bright orange, or bright red. The side of the mountain that faces the port is bright red with some pinkish tones and areas of the inside have bright orange ceilings.

In addition to the two boat-navigable entrance/exit tunnels (north-west and north-east), there's a short third cave radiating south from the round middle area. This third tunnel is short and leads nowhere.

The mountain has 1 lighthouse on its south-west coast. There's an aerial acrobatics challenge in the middle of the cave and another wingsuit challenge at the lighthouse. The challenge at the lighthouse belongs to a settlement south of here. One of the Avalanche Studios Deck Chairs is located on top of the mountain on the western side.

The top of the mountain has an odd patch of grey, or light brown soil, which seems like a possible dried lake.

Possible real life inspirations[]

It's unknown if that's what the game developers were inspired by. A couple of default Windows 10 welcome screens have had images of very similar places. Clicking on the link in the top left corner makes W10 bring up an internet browser with the following links. Those images are copyright protected, so we can't upload them here.

Location[]

Near the north-west corner of Solís, in the Acantilados region, immediately west of Puerto Diego. The cave with its large hole are easily visible on the map.
