Wind Cannons are chaos objects in Just Cause 4.

Description[]

Wind cannons are big stationary jet engines (they don't shoot out air hot enough to be on fire, though), mounted on platforms that allow them to be aimed. Their purpose is to deter and/or change the course tornadoes with their jet blast (stream of wind from their exhaust).

They are painted in Black Hand's faction colors (entirely black and a few parts painted red).

Performance[]

The Wind Cannons will blast away anything caught out in front and push away tornadoes. Strangely, these large cannons are actually weaker than the tiny handheld version. One of these cannons isn't even powerful enough to push a Warchief Assault Tank into the air, while the secondary fire of the Wind Gun can make even the Spearhead Transport bounce up a bit.

As tornadoes serve as research data for Project Illapa, the Black Hand uses these to keep them away from their installations. As revealed in the mission Vendaval Lockout, the cannons were being tested at an underground base at Mina Vendaval.

Destructibility[]

They're decently well armored but their vulnerable inner workings can be destroyed by most gunfire, which will loosen the armored casing protecting the rear intake fan. Destroying that will disable the cannon entirely. One or two explosive rounds will destroy them as well. The armor casing will be destroyed in the process.

It is also possible to rip them loose from their mounting by the grappler, but this takes some time and patience.
